The ideal rabbit diet should consist of high-fibre foods to keep their gut healthy and fibrous grasses to help prevent their teeth from overgrowing. Burgess rabbit food and rabbit treats are made with a carefully formulated balance of nutrients, with no artificial colours or flavours, and are high in fibre.

This is really important for ‘fibrevores’ (as we call them at Burgess) such as rabbits, because fibre is by far the most important part of their diet. Nuggets supplement a rabbit’s diet when fed alongside 85-90% feeding hay.

What’s more, choosing rabbit pellets or nuggets over other rabbit feeds is one of the best things you can do to help your buns stay healthy and happy.

Brightly coloured muesli mixes may look more interesting to us humans but are not a healthy choice. The Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund (RWAF) certainly doesn’t recommend muesli-style rabbit food, stating: “Pellets are bite-sized nuggets. Each mouthful is the same which helps ensure rabbits eat a balanced diet. They don’t look as nice as muesli, but they are much better for your rabbits.”

At Burgess, all our rabbit nuggets are made at our factory in the heart of Yorkshire, using only ingredients that meet our stringent specifications.
